Ted Intorcio Bio
Upon moving to Denver in 2005, I discovered a world of new and interesting comics separate from superheroes and fantasy and met several aspiring comics artists who inspired me to try my hand at it. Before long, more and more of my free time was devoted to reading, drawing and writing comics that had depth and relevance. I created an ongoing memoir comic called Head & Torso and completed two biographical comics about child stars from the Little Rascals. After my father’s passing, in 2010, there was a void in my life that had previously been filled with the responsibilities of caring for him. Struggling through depression and self doubt, I tried publishing comics as a passion project. By applying my 20+ years of experience as a graphic designer and art director to publishing comics that would stand apart, my first book, Homesick, was nominated for an Eisner in 2014 and motivated me to keep going. Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to work with several talented artists in the creation of great comics. It’s brought me personal fulfillment and a ton of experience, technical knowledge, and understanding what makes a comic successful. In May of 2019 I went full time as a publisher. It’s my goal to change people’s feelings about comics; to expand there perceptions of what comics can be, ought to be; to make them aware of the possibilities intelligent comics present beyond pop culture genres. Comics are about diversity. Not just about diversity of genres, but diversity of the creators. When was the last time you were inspired by a comic?
